Update 06/03/03
We
have received some items to get started on the Acura EL Project car. We
are finished with the engine wiring harness modifications to allow the
GSR engine swap to work in the EL/Civic platform. The coil over kit is
in from Ground Control. We
have yet to decide what type of dampers we will run. Stay tuned for the
GSR engine installation!

Acura EL Project Updates |

We
are on our way to getting this project underway. We have one of
our Project Specialist, Marlin Kwong, preparing the swap of the
interior from our donor car. We will have to remove everything
from the interior of the donor car because the project car was
stripped bare on the inside. We will be installing the heated
leather seats and all corresponding items. We will have to swap
out the complete interior and engine compartment wiring harness
due to someone cutting various parts of ours. Even though this
looks like a very daunting project, we should be able to breeze
through it by having the "parts" car within a few steps
away! We are currently waiting for the new front end parts to
arrive from Canada. Until then, we will be installing the GSR
engine swap before we let the body shop take the car. Please stay
tuned for the next adventure!

We
have decided to add to our "new projects" line up. We
received a 1998 Acura EL 4 door on 4-30-03. It is basically a
CIVIC that is sold in Canada thru the Acura dealer. The car has
a different front end and rear deck lid. It also comes with a
different interior then the US Civics. We have a donor car, a
1998 Acura EL Premium that we will get the rear parts and interior
from. The interior will consist of heated leather seats and a
EL only dash assembly. The car will also have heated mirrors!
All this is offered to the Canadian customer from the factory!
We will purchase the front end parts from a dealer in Canada.
Before
the EL goes to the body shop, we will install a 1998 Integra GSR
engine swap. Also, we will be upgrading the brake system to a
Integra Type-R 5 lug system. As with the 02 Civic Si project,
we will try out some aftermarket mods. The 02 Civic Si project
will be in the body shop for a lengthy visit since it needs quite
a bit of work.
